Cowboy Flavor, a new half hour program for RFD-TV
will savor your taste buds with the finest Cowboy
Cuisine. Always outdoors, never in a kitchen, this grub
is made only in Dutch Ovens, Bar B-Q or on an open
fire. The show will be hosted by Master Cowboy Chef,
Billy Ruiz. Billy will bring a lifetime of outdoor cooking
experience to the program. Billy was President Ronald
Reagan’s personal cowboy chef for many of the ranch
functions at the Reagan Ranch.
Cowboy Flavor will be co-hosted by his wife Sue. Both
Sue and Billy were featured on the first episode of
“Al Roker BBQ on the Road” show on the Food
Network. They have been lucky enough to live on the
ranches of the Pacific
Slope of California and
both enjoy entertaining
and being entertained in a true Western
lifestyle. They have shared this lifestyle with
family and friends, and are very proud and
happy to share this with everyone on RFD-TV!
From a hearty Dutch Oven Egg Frittata, better known as Cowboy Breakfast…
to barbequing an entire 15 pound New York Strip, carved right to your
plate… to Pastel Cheleno (Chilean Pie) which is a
chicken dish served on the ranches of California in
the 1700’s… Cowboy Flavor is not only a lesson in
how to cook great food, but a journey through the
history of dishes served on American Ranches.
Every episode takes place at the Cowboy
Flavor campsite complete with Chuck wagon.
The campers make up the live audience with
music provided by Jay Parson. Jay has made
his living in cattle and agriculture, so his music
has ties to that way of life. In Jay’s words… “I
like to think that I don't play strictly cowboy
music but I play music that cowboys like to listen to.”
Some of the special audience members that are
scheduled to appear and be apart of consuming some
Cowboy Flavor are; the US Marines, FFA kids, WWII
veterans, and various cameo appearances from
celebrities and just regular ‘ol people that like to eat.
Premiering this November on RFD-TV, Cowboy Flavor
is produced by the same people that bring you
Equestrian Nation with Larry Mahan every Thursday
on RFD-TV. So we’re having a cookout, and you’re all invited!
