Equine You Asked For It is a program that caters to viewer requests and suggestions. In brief, it’s a blend of horse-training tips to solve problems, and human-interest stories to warm hearts.
As a professional horseman since the 1970’s, the host, Mike Kevil, has a unique point of view. Mike’s first hand knowledge of traditional training methods combined with his curiosity and research on the latest trends further broaden his perspective. Today, Mike merges the old with the new as he continues to learn from the horses that he still trains full time. All of this enables Mike to weed out flawed techniques, and to understand and explain why the good methods work.
An additional asset is Mike’s communication skill. One of the great horsemen of our time, Gene LaCroix, said in his endorsement of Mike’s bestselling Western Horseman book, Starting Colts: “Mike Kevil is . . . equally as good with people as he is with horses. The communication between himself and people, and between himself and horses, is a very rare talent.”
In the show’s horse-training segments, horse enthusiasts who have asked for help will frequently be asked to participate, demonstrating their particular problems. In our human-interest segment, we’ll feature special people and horses of yesterday and today that have earned the right to be called heroes or legends. We’ll also share some quick training tips, and some interesting horse-related anecdotes.
